Presiding officer - election

I have  been appointed by the Head of the Department(PSU) to be the Presiding Officer  in the election of the Branch office of the recognised union.  Though the election seems to be very simple and easy, i would like to know what is my duty and responsibility and i want to discharge the duty without fear or favour.  Your immediate suggestions  will help me out come succesfully.
