I would need your urgent advise in what to do. I am married now in dec 2011 and was staying happily with my wife. But way back in Dec 2006, I wanted to marry my girlfriend.
So we consulted a lawyer at that time and he suggested us to do a notary with our joint photo and we did that notary that we got married in a temple and the notary states a lot of things like the responsibilities of husband and all that with the sign of two witnesses who were my friends. But we never got married in reality in temple or anywhere.
After that we signed on the application on the same day for marriage to get it registered with the same witnesses. The lawyer told us that this notary will be valid for 6 months and within 6 months we will have to come back and get it signed otherwise it will get cancelled and we were given a receipt for application. Till then we can use the notary for any queries of our marriage.
We never went there and now it is 2012 and somehow my wife got that receipt and the notary (xerox copies) as I have lost the originals and she thinks we were married. I am in a dilemma now. Please advise me that was I really married as we never went there and we never received any certificate becasue we didn't go there after 6 months which the lawyer told us to go. My wife might put up a case against me on this so I am very worried.
Please advise as I am very tensed in this situation
