The title of your post is "reasonable Mumbai lawyer." There is no such thing as "reasonable lawyer" anywhere in the world. There are many jokes on good lawyers. Here is one: "A good lawyer will drag your case for 10 years a bad lawyer will be able to drag your case for only five years."  The key is never to give them all the monies upfront. Let them work very hard for it and pay them in installments. Give them the feeling that you are very rich so they really give you a lot of time. Ask them to give you at least four days to read any paper prepared by them before signing them.  Keep in mind that your advocate is just another adversary, like your husband, except that the advocate's loyalty is on sale with no emotions involved. Do not trust your strategy or inner secrets with him/her  until you are sure that he/she is trustworthy.  For the first six months, imagine that you are dealing with the devil himself, or the devil's guru. If he does not have an answer to your question, he will never admit it but will give you some fake answer. So, do not strategize around his answers...

So, what are the options? Contact some good advocates on this site (e.g. Adv. Kalaiselvan. No I am not his agent and I am not an advocate myself) and get paid private consultation online or over the phone from him or someone like him, in parallel.

Take steps only when the online parallel advocate also approves the step.
