recruitment

Of late the incidents of candidates at senior level not joining as per their own commitment at the time of taking the offer letter are in the raise.Normally we spend about 1 to 3 months to find out a suitable candidate who is willing to switch & after getting the offer letter & making us wait for at least 1 month,he/she will send a mail telling us that due to personal reasons they are unable to join.Imagine the trauma/damage done if the position is a critical one!Is there any legal remedy which can be defended in a court of law?..may be by way of an agrement for joining on a date committed by the candidate failing which some legal actions can be initiated.

In most of the cases candidates fail to join as they opt for better job prospects.
