Redevelopment

Our building was taken up for redevelopment by a builder, and he promised that we’d all get modern apartments with better amenities once the project was done. But recently, things took an unexpected turn. The builder decided to hand over the entire property to the government for some large-scale project. He’s now telling us that instead of the new apartments we were expecting, he’ll compensate us by giving us the current market value of our flats, plus a share of whatever money he gets from the government. Many of us in the building, including my family, are upset and confused. We didn’t agree to this new deal, and we’re worried we’ll lose not only our homes but also the community we’ve built here. We feel that the builder is prioritizing his profits over our well-being, and some of us are considering taking legal action to protect our rights and ensure we aren’t just brushed aside. What do we do now?  There  are a few families that have agreed to this but most us do not want this.

If there's any registered agreement with the builder then you can file a permanent injunction suit against the builder.

Your building must be having a registered association or society. The agreement for redevelopment may be between the society and the builder. The land on which the building stands would belong to the association or society. The builder cannot decide on his own what to do at the site. He is only a contractor.
