Two days ago I received a letter from the Regional Passport Office, Kolkata in which a Show Cause Notice was issued to my father for obtaining a passport in Tatkaal scheme by producing a "fake and false" verification certificate failing which his passport could be impounded. Although my father stays in Iraq and he will be able to meet the officer within the 15 days time given, we are all very worried since the show cause notice says that the passport could be impounded. My father applied to the Tatkaal scheme for a reissue through an agent due to his lack of knowledge about online platforms. Although we could have arranged the verification certificate(or Annexure F) from our Local SHO , the agent insisted that he knows a Deputy Commissioner in the Department of Revenue and so my father sent his documents and picture to him through the agent. The verification certificate arrived in time and at the Passport Seva Kendra,Kolkata the passport officers said that all the documents were correct and a passport was reissued to my father. Now, the Regional Passport Office is saying that it is fake? I tried calling the Deputy Commissioner who issued the certificate but the phone number could not be connected. What can my father do now? What should he tell the RPO when he goes to meet them? We are very worried since the verification certificate has been submitted unknowingly and from the various news reports it seems that the RPO also creates an FIR for forgery for these kind of cases( in Bangalore and Hyderabad).
I will be indebted to you if you can reply to this . A huge thanks in advance.
