It all depends on mutual trust and convenience.   Generally, the client remits that amount with such challan, keep two or three xerox copies of challan and handover receipt to Advocate for including details in such sale deed.  Those who can not take the trouble of going to the bank/treasury may entrust this to an Advocate who is having connections and a professional way of doing such things faster.

What are the facts? What is the context? Why the services of a lawyer?

Stamp duty and lawyer's fees are two different payments, where both can be transferred on line.

Vague facts.

Consult your lawyer, however, if you have lost faith in your lawyer change him / her immediately.
