and ''if hurt is caused to any person by such act, the offender shall be liable either to imprisonment for life, or to such punishment as is herein-before mentioned. Attempts by life convicts.-- When any person offending under this section is under sentence of imprisonment for life, he may, if hurt is caused, be punished with death.'' Thus, for making out an offence under Section 307 of IPC, it is not necessary that until and unless an injury which dangerous to life is caused to the victim, no offence under Section 307 of IPC would be made out. If a simple hurt is also caused with an intention or knowledge to cause death of the victim, then the said act is sufficient to punish the accused for an offence under Section 307 of IPC.
