Vat tax

Sir, we purchased a completed shop last six months back.  Builder did not ask us VAT and Service Tax at that time.  But now he is insisting for the same.  We have argued that it was completed properly and so, the same are not applicable on it.  i.e. neither u will pay nor we will pay.  They are telling that completion certificate is not there, so it is considered as incomplete property and so buyer has to pay.

Sir, completion certificate has not been applied by the builder.  then what is our fault.  we purchased a fully completed shop.  builder is trying to cheat us.  it is not so that builder have applied for cc and umc have rejected.  in fact they have not yet applied for cc.

what to do sir. pl. help.

VAT is paid to government and you can directly pay taking the signed forms from the Builder if you think the builder is cheating you. The buyer is responsible for paying VAT. You can also file a case against government and the builder for demanding VAT if you think you are right.
