Verifying the tittle of the land and building

There is a building at SOuth Kolkata having 15 flats. The house owners were two bachelors who formed two different trusts. Rent was paid at 50 50 basis. Rumors are spread by some distant relatives that they have sold the flat. They are showing some cour paper typed sale deed which is not registered and terrorising the existing tenants. These tenents are occupying more than 80 years since generations. How can we verify that the building has been sold or not? Can any member help us in this regard?

without informing the tenants the owners cannot sell the flat. They will not get or claim ownership unless and until the Sale Deed is regd at Registrar Office. You can apply for latest EC from the SRO to know about the alleged sale.
