Water connection charges

Hi All,

I have commercial shop in a housing society with no water connection, however the society is levying muncipal water charges in my monthly maintenance bill which i have been paying. I now require water connection in my shop and upon enquiry with committee members -Chairman has informed that i will have to pay Rs.50000 as connection charges wherein they will do plumbing till my shop and all other expenses inside my shop will have to be borne by me. Is this charge or fee of Rs.50000 correct and as per rules and if not then what can i do against the committee. Please suggest and advice.

The society cannot claim exorbitant charges for whatever reason they may quote.

If there's no approval of bylaws to this exorbitant charges, you may object to and refuse to pay it and make a complaint with deputy registrar of cooperative society against the society

Whether you have received written demand of Rs. 50,000/- as installation charges /new water connection in the shop ?

If so, you should challange the demand seeking professional services of a local prudent lawyer.

The Society is not entitled to demand exhorbitant charges.
