Property buying in chawls

Hi this is Srikant, I'm planning to buy a room in chawl in Lower parel.

This property is brought by Orbit Group, but failed to raise building since Half of the chawl space in coming under road widening scheme. There is a space behind the building but it brought by Peninsulla group.

If Orbit group is able to buy some part of peninsulla  or visa versa then its good for us.

But nothing happens or no redevelopment done and chawl structure get weaken In that case what will happen? Then who will come in picture Orbit group or BMC or Other?

What room owners will get?

Can you please help me to understand this issue?

if the deal is done by the orbit corp and they have executed the necessary agreements with the chawl owners, then the orbit corp. needs to do redevelopment. otherwise not.

Thank you, Advocate Rohit Dalmia

But if the chawl is coming under road widening then how can he do redevelopment?

Their legal department knows about widening issues if it is feasible then only they purchase the property. Road widening issues do not prop up over night in fact it is decided way back in 1991 as per dcr rules which places road widening and other reservations are ear marked.  So if the these people have purchased the property from the crawl owners properly you will be protected. But of course decision is yours, I have given you the general opinion some times deals fail so be careful.
