I am an Indian Citizen staying in Japan. Want to get married to my girlfriend in brazil. But in brazil they want a "Unmarried Status Certificate". And they said, it has to be attested by the Embassy of Brazil in INDIA.
I called up the Embassy of Brazil in India, they said the document should first be attested by the Ministry of External Affairs before I produce it to them.
I mailed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and they said, that the document needs to be attested by the General Administration Department (GAD) in Chennai before producing it in MEA for attestation.
I went to the GAD in Chennai Secretariat but they refused because the Notary Affidavits cannot be attested by the GAD Chennai. I was suggested by the guy in the Secretariat that, to ask the Tahsildar, but the Tahsildar in my region pointed fingers towards the Sub-Registrar.
When I asked the Sub-Registrar Office, they said, there is nothing called "Unmarried Status Certificate". But I see such a thing exists in Kerala and Delhi.You can find such "Unmarried Status Certificate" in this website but is in Kerala: (https://trivandrum.gov.in/~trivandrum/index.php/district-profile-mainmenu-73/224-taluk-other-certificates), where as I am under the Jurisdiction of Chennai.
How should I get my "Unmarried Status Certificate/Affidavit" or any document which can be signed by the GAD in Chennai Secretariat. Please Help me.
