Whom to keep nominee

HI,

If I dont have any specific person in my family/friend circle to keep nominee, Can I allowed to keep President Of India or any trust which helps the poor or any hospital which helps the cancer patients etc as Nominee in my Bank account/ Bank Locker Account ?

Thankyou

As per Supreme Court judgements, a nominee is merely a custodian of the asset/money, and the actual heir to the FD is the person to whom you left it in your will. If the two persons are different then the actual heir will have to claim the money from the nominee.
Instead you can write a Will bequeathing your bank account amount to president or anyone of your choice.

Further, legal experts recommend that at the time of making a will, an individual should mention the reason for bequeathing a particular asset to a particular beneficiary. This specifies the intent of an individual which will help in avoiding legal disputes at the time of claiming assets.

So, in that case, after my death, can I name a cancer Institute as Nominee ( Since my parents died with cancer) as I dont have any marriage and kids in this life. Subsequently I want to write all my assets on the name Cancer Institue name so that It will be useful for the patients who suffers with the decease.

Will this be legal if I Go ahead and do this?

Regards

You can write will and register it but your lrs may challenge ,so they have to prove  the will .

You can bequeath the assets both movable and immovable to the instuitute in favor of the institute with reasons therein clearly recited in the Will.
