wheather your case is an out come of a police case or a private complaint , what ever it is file a petition before the concerned judicial first class magistrate requesting to send a reminder to police alternatively you also can file a petition under R.T.I to the informant officer to known the stage of your case of the concerned police station

Find out the status of your case by some advocates...then if iit is still pending with Police, then some thig is there, I suspect your in laws are more criminal and they may have paid not to file the charsheet. in that case, please contact police commisioner and explain him. I can't think, you will get justice by contacting the Plice I O. But, as advocate Chandu told, nothing much you get in this case. tey to file DV case, which is faster than 498.
