In a court case, NFA means no further action. No further action is when the police makes a decision not to charge someone with an offence. Such is done when there is not enough evidence or it is not in the public interest. For instance, it is not usually in the public interest to criminalise children. A written notice is provided to the suspect or their solicitor to inform them of the decision to close the investigation.
However, when a suspect is notified of the NFA decision, they should also be aware that the case could be re-opened in the future if any evidence comes into light.
The term FLC means foreign legal consultant. A foreign legal consultant (FLC) is an attorney or counselor at law licensed in another country.
