A division bench of Justice B H Marlapalle and Justice R Y Ganoo expressed no confidence in the investigation conducted by the Thane police. “It is motivated, deliberate and dishonest for reasons only the police could explain,’’ said the judges.
The court did not stop at that and gave vent to the frustration of the common man against the police machinery. “If the criminal justice system in this country has to be set right so as to inspire the confidence of a common man, the police must be liberated from the clutches of the ‘wanted interests, so as to belie the fast growing belief that the police are possessed by the lobbies of gangsters, builders and political dictates,’’ the judges remarked.
