Religion conversion

I'm married. But I'm Christian by birth but I have faith in Hinduism. And at the time of marriage I stated myself as a hindu. Now can I make an affidavit of converting to Hinduism after marriage?

Yes, you may adopt / profess Hinduism, if you feel so, there is no legal impediment.

The freedom to profess, practise, and propagate any religion is also guaranteed by our Indian Constitution. As a result, there is no legal procedure for converting religion, but the conversion must be announced in the Government Gazette so that it can be easily reflected in all other legal papers.

You have stated, inter alia, "......the conversion must be announced in the Government Gazette so that it can be easily reflected in all other legal papers."

Is it legally required ??

If you convert to other religion then your spouce has three options :-

  1. seek dissolution of marriage.
  2. convert alongwith you
  3. not to covert but condone your conversion and keep living with you.
