I took cash advance of Rs. 20000/- for purchase of official items in May-2008 and settlement submitted in June-2008 after purchase to finance dept via stores dept as per company procedure. Now finance has deducted the same saying that your document has not reached in finance and outstanding amount is recovered. Document handling and delivery is the sole responsibility of dispatch section of the company and I have the dispatch reference number. Can a department deduct the same from salary without giving any notice as advance was drawn for office purpose not for personal work? What is the law over salary deduction?
