Prima Facie case my dear means on the very first blush & without going into a detailed examination the case somewhat inspires confidence - it looks that the person has some semblance of a case, that merits going ahead with the trial. Any reasonable person would on so much of facts would like to go ahead.

In addition to Bharat, let me also add that it is latin words meaning that: First face, at first sight, based on first impression, the initial view of something, accepted as true until disproven.

prima facie is used to describe the apparent nature of something upon initial observation.

Prima facie has the same meaning in legal parlance as well as in common usage. It means "on the face of it at first"
