Yes if she is unemployed and has no means to maintain herself although may be for short period but he has to provide her financial help.

There r 2 things, "earning" and "able to earn". If the case comes in first category then no maintenance (t & c), if case comes in second condition then yes, though may be for a shorter period as u can raise number of contentions provided Judge accepts those words as sometimes it feels to the husband's side in such cases that "Kanoon is Andha and Judge is Behra"

You have the need just to understand, qualification is not a substitute of maintenance. Qualifications won't provide her food and shelter, if not employed or earning anything.
