A man died by unknown vechicle

Respected Experts,
One of my friends was going to market by by-cycle. on the way to market one mototor cycle hit him my friend fell down. He got some injury in head. The motorcyclist escaped from the spot.Then my friend returned home. He failed to see the number of motorcycle.After 2 hours he loose his contious. He was admitted in hospital after three days he was died in hospital.In FIR the Police mentined the accident done by unknowned vehicle.I want to know whether my friend family member can claim any compensation or not? Please guide us

No compensation can be claimed. But solatium can be claimed from the government for hit and run accident.
