I am a domicile of Karnataka for more tha 20 years but I was born in Andhra Pradesh. My father too was born in Andhra and he is a domicile of Karnataka as well. While filling up the DAF form for civil services mains I didn't know what "originally belongs to" was and filled it as Andhra in stead of Karnataka as I inferred it as "place of birth" in stead of "place of domicile".
Now, UPSC has rejected my caste certificate by saying that it is not from the competent authority where my father "originally belongs" and that I should submit one within 30 days.
I am planning to submit the domicile certificates of both me and my father stating that we belong to Karnataka.
Could somebody guide me regarding what can be done in this regard with my response to UPSC?

If the community u belong is listed in katnataka state and andra you can state the fact of migration.

Sir my community is listed as OBC only in Karnataka and not in Andhra.

Also, we were just born in Andhra sir but we have lived in Karnataka and we have no assets or anything in Andhra. So, I am planning to claim that both me and my father are permanent residents of Karnataka and thus we originally belong here and while filling the form I misinterpreted it.

Since you and your father were born in Andhra, in my opinion you may not be eligible for the reservation meant for your community since it is not provided in Andhra. However based on the domicile, you may prepare an affidavit stating that though you took birth in Andhra, ever since your birth you are living in Karnataka hence you are eligible for the reservation meant for your community based on the domicile and send this affidavit to the UPSC and wait for their confirmation.
