Dear Sir/Madam

There is ceiling on holing of agricultural land in Maharashtra under Maharashtra Agricultural Lands (Ceiling on Holdings) Act of 1961.

Is this ceiling applicable to a private company?

I would be grateful for the quick reply on the same.

Thanks,

It is very much applicable. No private company can own any agricultural land uunless the said compnay is floated with the main object of using the agriculture land for agriculture only.

Private Limited company has to buy non agricultural land. Let me what purpose the Pvt ltd company wants the land for. and what its objects.

No, the said ceiling act is not applicable to any company. it was enacted for the very purpose that a farmer should not hold agriculture land more than the celing prescribed under the act as follows:
Land with an assured supply of water, 18 acres
Land with assured water for one crop, 27 acres
Land irrigated seasonally, 36 acres
Dry crop land (specified regions-paddy land), 36 acres
Dry crop land, 54 acres
Excess of the said ceiling was to hand to to a government agency and then to landless.
But now there has been an amendment and govt is selling off the land.

a company can purchase land and pay a conversion charge for any oither use if permissible for that area.

Thanks,

Main object of company to take agricultural land and convert it as non-agricultural land and then sell it.

Can with this main object company can purchase the purchase land without a limit?

Regards,
