I dont have the entire judgement.
Supreme Court has stayed High Court order mainly on the following grounds:
(1) Sidhu’s name is not in the FIR
(2) After examining evidence in the case, the apex court noted that the police complaint was not clear as to who gave the blow to the victim.
(3) Postmortem report does not say that victim dead due to the blow of Sidhu
(4) Salve had contended that the incident dates back when Sidhu was a cricketer and he entered public life in 2004 and his conduct as a public person has been good.
(5) Supreme Court noticed that Sidhu resigned from Lok Sabha to honor High Court and appeared before the Supreme Court to honor the law of land.
While pronouncing its decision in Sidhu`s favour, the Supreme Court said he was not a person who became an MP while the conviction was operating against him. Instead at the time of contesting the polls, he was acquitted by the trial court, it said.

BJP MP and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu was on Friday found guilty of causing a man’s death in 1988 during a fight with him over parking in Patiala.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court overturned a lower court’s 1999 order acquitting Sidhu in the death of Patiala resident Gurman Singh and found him guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Sidhu, MP from Amritsar, and his friend Rupinder Singh Sandhu on December 27, 1988 allegedly beat up Gurman who later died of a heart attack. The court will announce Sidhu’s punishment on Wednesday, December 6.
The Punjab government’s complaint of December 27, 1988 alleged that Sidhu and Sandhu beat up Gurnam in Sheranwala Gate Bazaar after dragging him out of his car.
The fight began over a parking spot outside the State Bank of Patiala branch, where Sidhu was employed. Sidhu has always claimed that the incident was an accident and he had no intention of harming Gurnam.
Sidhu and Sandhu were alleged to have fled from the spot with the keys to Singh’s car. The Patiala sessions court dismissed the case on September 22, 1999 on the ground that the “case against the accused has not been established beyond doubtâ€? and there was a delay in lodging the case.
He has always been this crazy and I am not at all surprised at this. I still remember how mad he used to go at slightest of provocations. His famous Sidhuism are my favourite. After leaving cricket he joined politics. He is a vocal critic of corruption and criminilization in politics but his indulgence in murder reduced his credibility as a honest politician (ah well only you can club the 2 words together). The most enraging thing is his arrogant reply
Sidhu said he was “not bothered about the quantum of punishment and other technicalities” since he would be moving the Supreme Court. “I am more concerned about morality and ethics,” said Sidhu, who was in Parliament when the High Court order came.
No doubt he was arrogant and the fame he got as a result of his illustrious career further contributed to this. He action led to death of a man for a trifle issue like car parking! And plus he doesn’t even regrets that, shamelessly ignoring the victim and putting his hope on this credentials as MP and the snail pace moving Indian Judiciary system.
