This query is : Resolved
I am a 69 years old French citizen who has lived in India for the past 30 years with a 'five year entry visa' which has to be renewed every five years at the Indian ambassy in Paris, France or anywhere outside India. I would like to get in contact with a lawyer who could advise me on the matter of Indian citizenship on the basis of the following article of Indian law regarding the acquisition of citizenship by a foreign citizen:
"Citizenship of India by naturalization can be acquired by a foreigner (not being an illegal migrant) who is ordinarily resident in India for twelve years (throughout the period of twelve months immediately preceding the date of application and for eleven years in the aggregate in the fourteen years preceding the twelve months) and fulfils other qualifications as specified in third schedule to the act, 1955. "
I came to India for spiritual reasons and am not employed.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you everyone for your prompt replies. They made me realize that the phrasing of my query should have been more accurate.
Can a lawyer actually deal with the process of naturalization on behalf of a client or must the applicant necessarily apply directly and in person to his district collector?
If it were possible for a Lawyer to present the case and have a better chance of success, could anyone suggest the professional who would be best suited to the task?
I was unable to directly contact a migration expert on the net. That's why registering on this forum seemed to offer a better opportunity to do so.
Thanks again !

Yes, as per proper advises by experts, it would be better if you approach directly with an application for the purpose so that your genuineness will be recognised and acknowledged.
