clarification of property

(Querist) 07 May 2010 This query is : Resolved 
A Father (A)had 8 acres of agricultre ancestral property. After his death his land transferred in two parts one to his wife (B) and half to his son (c)because he had only son. After the death of his wife(B) the land transferred to his son(C). please clarify wheather that property will be ancestral which his son(C) got from his mother(B).

yes, the property is ancestral for his father and his mother inherit ancrstral property of her husband, now the son inherit property from his mother and the property was ancestral for his mother so the property in the hands of the son shall be Ancestral.

I think learned experts may also take into consideration that the characterstics of ancestral property was already lost when the property was divided between mother and son,so when after the death of mother son gets whole property it has become his absolute property.

Dear Niranjan, Definitely son became the absolute owner of the property, but the same is not self-acquired property of the son.
