What is , if any, the difference between libel and slander ?

Dear Shreya,
Libel : Written and Published or broadcast statement whichg damages someone's character in permanent form.
Slander: untrue spoken statements which damages soneone's character.
For the above said statements defamation can be filed.

Libel & Slander are two torts that involve the communication of false information about a person, a group, or an entity such as a corporation.
Libel is any Defamation that can be seen, such as a writing, printing, effigy, movie, or statue.
Slander is any defamation that is spoken and heard.
