Credit Card Banker

Guest (Querist) 06 February 2010 This query is : Resolved
Dear Professional Friends,

I may post my query for your views.

Query :

Even though the card holder is very prompt and regular in his payments for the usage of cards, whether the bank official has a right to take a decision to close the card accounts because the offical is unable to reach the card holder and the purpose of call is merely to give updation (matter is not known) to the card holder. Is it possible by the bank and is it fair on the part of the bank ?

Fact :

I am an individual.
I am having XYZ Bank credit cards.
I am making payments promptly for my usage of cards.

I am not in touch with the bank, as till date, it seems there is no necessity or any requirement from the bank.

Today, somebody on behalf of the bank called my brother's mobile number (as this number might have given at the time of applying for credit card) and asked for me. My brother asked what is the purpose of call.

She said, as she wants to update some information, she would like to speak to me and further she has asked for my mobile number.

My brother said that the card holder does not carry the mobile number.

Then she said, she wants to immediately speak and give some updation.

She further said, the bank has given full rights / authorisation to her in the absence of unreaching the card holders, she has right to cancel the card accounts. She has asked whether she will close all my card accounts.
