Credit card on lien of Fixed Deposit

(Querist) 23 May 2009 This query is : Resolved
The sales executive of ABN Amro Fixed Deposit have committed me tha if I would make a F.D. of Rs. 24,000 then the bank will issue me a Credit card.
The F.D will be for three months and after that, on the Maturity date of the F.D. the F.D. amount would be released.
But when the maturity date hhas come and I ask to the Bank that I would like to Mature the F.D. then they inform me that if I want to Mature the F.D then the card should be surrendered.

Now an another call I got from the another credit manager of the ABN Amro Bank they promise me the same.
Suggest me as soon as possible.

Dear Abhinay,

Sorry to say but you were tricked and you have got into the sweet glib talk of the executives. I hope you have the physical F D with you, if so check whether any lien has been marked, if yes then there is little that can be done but if lien is not marked, contact a good advocate and serve a legal notice on the bank, if they don't respond positively then file a suit against them with the consumer forum or complain to the bank obudsman. Hope it resolves your problem.

Rightly suggested by Mr Vishal, I agree with his views.

This is an unfair trade practice. It is the bounded duty of the bank to refund your FD, if they are not ready then issue a notice and file a consumer complaint.

Agree with the views of Mr. Vishal
