Death certificate registration confusion

(Querist) 03 February 2016 This query is : Resolved
Hi,

My father-in-law passed away seven years back in chennai. He was working there but his family was residing in mumbai. The hospital provided death certificate of chennai. Do i have to register his death certificate in mumbai BMC or that certificate is enough any where in india. what should i do if there is any procedure

As your father-in-law died in Chennai, register about death in chennai muncipal corporation authorities with late fee. After process, the municipal corporation authorities will issue death certificate. it is enough and it is valid through out India.

Hi,

Thank you for the swift reply. I got the death certificate online from

http://www.chennaicorporation.gov.in/ which show "FORM NO. 6" on the heading. But when i try getting the same from BMC (online) it shows the message "Death Registration Approval is Pending" what is this as i am new in this process. Also no one stay in chennai. we are from mumbai so can we do some thing in mumbai only

The death certificate from Chennai is valid all over India as the person expired there, death need not be registered in Mumbai again.
