Defination of Scheduled Tribe

Guest (Querist) 11 October 2009 This query is : Resolved
How Government of India defines accurately Scheduled Tribe for issuing S.T. Certificate?

If a forward caste group of persons uneducated and very poor live on hillock side/ in forest/remote agency area is he eligible to get S.T.Certificate?

In remote areas how you measure backwardness and tribes?

Central Govt. have its own criteria to decide the status of a caste to be counted in ST on the basis of its backwardness etc. but a forward caste educated youth as described by you individually is not entitled for the grant of status of ST.
