what is the difference between Lawyer and Advocate. Please clarify.
Adv Archana Deshmukh (Expert) 24 December 2009
No difference. Both the terms are used synonymously.
A V Vishal (Expert) 25 December 2009
Lawyer is a person who knows law, he is a law graduate. It is not necessary for him to carry the brief of the client. While an advocate is a practicing lawyer enrolled with Bar Council under the Advocates Act, therefore every ADVOCATE is a LAWYER, but every LAWYER is not an ADVOCATE.
