Employee harassment

(Querist) 23 December 2015 This query is : Resolved
I am a PO at a PSB. I HAVE BEEN CONSTANTLY DISTURBED MENTALLY BY MY MANAGER.
I AM A GIRL AND IN A MANDATE TO LEAVE OFFICE ALREADY AT 7 PM . BUT SHE IS INHIBITING EVEN THIS. AND CONTINUOUSLY SHE IS GIVING ME MORE MENTAL TORTURE.
CAN I TAKE ANY LEGAL ACTION AGAINST HER IF ANY PROBLEM ARISES?
Kumar Doab (Expert) 23 December 2015
Record the evidence (audio/visual/witnessed/minuted).

The CCTV footage in bank may not have audio in it.

Once you have the evidence you will have better record.

In your posting , U have mentioned that U r working for a Public Sector Bank,as per prevalent procedure, there must have been a committee of the bank to sort out complaint s relating to harassment of women employees at workplace . Pl. inquire about the same from bank's website and follow prescribed procedure for redressal of your grievances.

The author is being asked to work beyond fixed office hours.

It is common in private as well as public sector banks.

The PO is being forced by another female i.e BM.

The banks/bankers feel is it is their birthrights to make the employees down the line, sit in office and burn their midnight oil in bank only.

They want it to be accepted as unwritten policy.

The PO's should form another unions and oppose it collectively.

Being a PO, during probation, PO is supposed to learn more and more, develop the habit to share responsibility.

If you do not want, your probation may be extended. Your legal steps may cease your future career.

However, If you prefer, you can refuse to work beyond office hours. You can lodge complaint to higher authorities through proper channel. May refer matter to committee set for harassment of woman workers.

I agree with experts, very well advised and no room left to add.

However, Ms. AS,
If you want to stay on the job, you have to learn the basics of a Bank PO, which you shall be practicing for your subordinates.
Present competitive market environment require dedicated, sincere and loyal staff so that they may be able to sustain and grow with the organisation (Bank in your case),an assets and profit oriented employee who is least concerned about rights and more about duty.
You are required and expected to work, learn, earn and grow without watching your watch and seeking for your legal right/action against the management.
