Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 17 February 2021 This query is : Resolved
I am a single mother of a 1 yr old daughter, i live alone with my daughter along with a maid. I have received appointment letter as presiding officer for upcoming election duty. It's not possible to leave my daughter on the mercy of servant and neighbours for 2 consecutive days. I tried 2 times to submit my application regarding exemption from election duty, but the Election officer did not pay heed to my request, even he didn't received my letter..pls tell me what should i do, i can't take risk with my baby's life

There is no way to escape from the election duty. However, you again request the District Collector and appraise your problem and consider yours case.

The job will be easier if your deptt gives a substitute.

The Electoral Officer will not be able to do much. It is only DM or SDM who may act that too if you meet personally.

Yes,District Collector has power to grant exemption to you on considering your Problem.

as a matter of experience such exemption is granted by the DM generally after meeting the applicant and not as a routine.

It the deptt gives name of other person or any other person of any other deptt (not already on election duty) comes forward on his own, then exemption will be matter of routine.

The chances of Exemption basing on your reason would be difficult and make some arrangements to take care of your family while you are on duty.
