what are the duties of police if somebody hit me slap and i call them. how can i force police to performed their duties.

If you lodge a complaint, the police is required to register the crime (register FIR) investigate into the offence and file a final report or a charge sheet.

If they do not discharge their duties, you can file a private complaint.

follow what Mr. Rao said, in addition keep in mind for every petty dispute FIR is not registered.

a mere slap may not result in registration of FIR.
