Dear Sirs
I gave a friendly loan to my someone in December 2010 and he gave me cheques for March 11 but he requested not to cash them and he will return the money but when cheques are about to epire(6 months) I got them into the bank for payment but they dis-honoured I again took matter with him and he said he will return back my money but till now he is not returning anything .
could you please guide me what actions i can take against him.

cheque has been dishonoured in september 2011 . have you issue legal notice on dishonour ? if you have not done so you cannot file complaint for cheque dishonour now .

file civil suit to recover ur money.
Ajayji, & if that someone claim IOU, and say, I may pay at any time at my pleasure, say after 10 years, where mr. dinesh stand?? in summary suit.
There is no Promissory note. that bound him to pay within 3 years, or on demand.

you can only file civil suit.
Better try to recover using social pressure.

thanks gents!
this means they money is gone into a black hole, i live abroad so i didn;t have time to do so as well as no knowledge about the procedures he promise me to return money thats it.
i just had a plain paper signed by him saying that i have taken friendly loan from me and will return the money will it be any use?
social pressure is no use thats what kept me away from taking legal action,so please suggest any legal way which ever is the best and what are the chances of recovering money if I go as suggested by you experts
