I have taken a flat on rent w.e.f. 01-04-2011 however, we haven't made any kind of agreement on paper. Now my company requires agreement copy for the purpose of claiming HRA. Now can i make an agreement today which would be effective from 01-04-2011.
Further a mere franking on plain paper of Rs. 100/- would be enough for claiming Rs. 27000/- per month for 12 months.

For HRA deduction not the agreement but rent receipt is required to prove rent payment every month.
No desired agreement legally possible now by antidating.

So while making this agreement in December 2011 can i mention that this agreement is with effect from 01-04-2011?
If not so what is max limit to which i can mention the effective date?

you can execute today date w.e.f. 1/4/11. and same to be registered.
I feel stamp duty is more than rs.100/-. Consult local advocate for it.

Yes you could well execute agreement even today which would take effect from any early date.

where the amount of average annual rent plus the amount of security deposit or money advanced or to be advanced exceeds Rs 2.5 lakh but does not exceed Rs 5 lakh for a single term of eleven months. tehn stamp duty is rs 1200 .
you are paying 27,000 per moth so it come to around rs 3 lakhs .get document franked with rs 1200 . i presume there is no security deposit

As far as SD Ajay Sethi is correct. Rs. 1200/-
But Registration is also compulsory. + Legal expenses, so it will cross 5k.
As Shri Prabhakar Singh is right. For HRA a Stamped Receipt for the Month of April 2011 is sufficient. No need for LL AGR . [ Majority Employee Pay Rent to their Father, or mother to save on Income Tax Rebate, and to claim hra./ They also use Petrol bill. Stamped Car Bill for Leave Travelling Allowance , I tax Relief. .

You can execute the egreement with retrospective effect from 1st April 2011.
