prescription to be vaid must contain all details on the doctor letter head mentioning the lawful purpose for which medicine has been prescribed . must be signed by doctor .

there have been cases wherein on account of ppor handwrting of doctors wrong medicine has been prescribed leading to loss of patient life .

If prescribed in individual capacity, there cannot be any validity of prescription in the absence of qualification, registration No and signature of the doctor prescribing medicines. Doctor, if not registered is treated as a quack.

A prescription can be valid only if it has some lawful nexus with the purpose for which it has been prescribed. In the event of it not bearing the signature and registration number of the doctor, the same is bad in law.
