Son's liability regarding government dues

(Querist) 23 August 2012 This query is : Resolved
A redemption fine (under Customs Act)in lieu of confiscation of goods (which were released provisionally earlier) was imposed on proprietary firm of father. The father died subsequently and his properties were inherited by son. Whether the son is liable to pay the redemption fine, if so under which provisions?

you just inform the authorities that father is dead . on his death the proprietorship ceases to exist .

if you have inherited tyhe properties of your father you are liable for his debts too to extent you have inherited the property .
