Respected All,
I want to know can a SC or ST candidate can apply for general post........
For example
If for particular post the % required is 55% however as per govt rule the percentage for such post is 50% required to apply for SC and ST candidate along with rebate in exam fee if post declared reserved for SC or ST candidate.
Now my question is that can a reserved category candidate apply for post reserved for general category candidate. Even he secured 50% and eligiblity for such general post is 55%.
Recently one of my friend applied for such post and he received admit card from such organization.
Please enlighten me.

Prashant,
Better discuss the exact problem, if you really have. Any body can apply for general post. He can be selected, if his name appears in the merit list of general candidates. The main theme of reservation is that the No. of posts earmarked for reserved candidates will not go to general candidates.

"reserved for general category candidate"
THERE IS NO SUCH RESERVATION.

SIR You all are not getting my point. I want to know if the post earmarked as general and eligibilty is for that post is 55% marks but in goverment vacany notification it was written that SC candidate need 50% to apply for that post. So it is clear that SC candidate can get eligiblity relaxation for general post too. However he has to qualify the exam according to general cut off I know that very well (If post belongs to general)

SC/ST candidate can be considered for general post provided no relaxation whatsoever fee/marks/age etc is availed by him.
There is no post "earmarked as general"

Mr. Prashant,
First of all, it is not your problem, rather an academic question you posted to which normally experts do not respond.
Secondly, you seem to be in some misunderstanding or have mininterpreted the conditions of application. Better re-read the conditions as well as the rules on reservation get your doubt cleared.

Well advised by experts, you may apply as a general candidate if you do not intend to claim any benefit/relaxation as reserved SC/ST/OBC/PH/ESM or other category candidates.
