Gift of plot to son, stamp duty

This is in continuation to my query reg gift of Plot to son. It was clarified by friends that a gift deed need to be registered. I want to get clarification on stamp duty payable on gift of immovable propert. is it based on value of propery or it is some fixed amount

Yes. The stamp duty is payable on the value of the property which would be given in gift.

Stamp duty and rules vary from state to state, in Karnataka the value of stamp duty on gift is fixed immaterial what the value of the property is, whereas in some states the stamp duty is on the market value of the property. In absence of the state where the property is situate it is difficult to answer your query.
