Dear Sirs, Under which law co-operative bank work? Can we complain RBI in case of any unfair practice done by co-operative bank? Can we make an RTI to co-operative bank, i have read somewhere that one cannot make a direct RTI to co-operative bank, what is direct RTI?

Co operative Banks in India are registered under the Co-operative Societies Act. The cooperative bank is also regulated by the RBI. They are governed by the Banking Regulations Act 1949 and Banking Laws (Co-operative Societies) Act, 1965.

Apex Body of Cooperative Banks in a particular State do work under RBI and RYI application can also be moved to this bank subject to limitations provided by Act itself.

Replace Y with T thus the proper word shall be RTI which typographically has been written as RYI instead of RTI. Thanks Sanjay for correction.
