Amicus curiae

Ld Counsels,

In an SLP before SC can a petitioner ask for appointment of Amicus Curiae. In generla when will Amicus Curiae will be appointed.

Please clarify.

a petitioner can not ask for appointment of 'amicus curiae'

its upon court to consider if assistance of some senior lawyer is necessary for proper adjudication of matter.

there is no hard and fast rule for such appointments.

if the petitioner is poor one then let him approach the Legal Services Authority for appointment of some lawyer for arguing his case.
