Marriage certificate

Hi,

My friend got married last year in Delhi and moved to bangalore with her husband immediately after her marriage without applying for Marriage Certificate.

Can she get marriage certificate from bangalore now since she is here and needs it urgently?
(we have read that marriage certificate should be obtained from the place of marriage only).

Parties to the marriage have to apply to the Registrar in whose jurisdiction the marriage is solemnised or to the Registrar in whose jurisdiction either party to the marriage has been residing at least for six months immediately preceding the date of marriage

My friend's husband had been residing in bangalore for 8 months preceding their marriage. For marriage, he came to delhi for 1 month. Will it work in that case?

Yes, he can.But, he is required to produce valid proof of residence as per the requirements of the issuing authority.

Proof of residence of one of the party to marriage, and Place of Marriage are two criteria, of local issuing authority.

If your friends could show the proof of residence in Bengaluru then marriage certificate could certainly be issued from that city.

On proof of residence for a certain period, it can be obtained in Bangalore also.
