Prima-facie you appear as guilty. Vital questions are:-

who credited the entry?

how huge did the deposit become?

who detected the deposit?

when you knew about the deposit?

when you refunded?

did you use the money?

Being Banker, you cannot be negligent of your own Account.
Pray for Mercy/ Pardon,
If it was accidental, try to prove it, that u r innocent. If not, write Apology, being First mistake.

"without my notice. co-incidentally, some transfer instrument issued long bank is presented for payment and has been encashed in the meantime."

IS hard for any one to believe.

Mr Sudhir Kumar / Mr. Shroff.

I believe that my query was not clear on certain aspects.

Firstly, It was a incoming transfer entry to my account. Original entry was done by one set of employees and duplicate entry by another set of employees of same branch. am associated with non-business branch and have no role in preparing / entering / checking branch transactions.
all happened about 3 months ago.

I first noticed the entry as an internal transfer memo I had signed under personal obligation about 2 years ago was used to transfer the funds from my account. I owed the sum.

After noticing, I borrowed the sum from my relative and remitted into the account within a span of one month.

I have not used the money. in fact my personal financial bills (cr card) have remained unpaid for about six months, paying only min amount.

Now that am targeted under suspicion. How can I be ill-treated when I was not involved in branch transactions and absolutely no intentions of wrong doing. My account in not so active as it was earlier as salary is being credited into different bank account. Another aspect is that, am being elevated to senior management level from entry level position very recently which I believe is also a factor for the situation before hand.

However, unless me telling the branch people they had not realized of discrepancy in my account.
What am I to do? kindly help.

My Remarks remains the same
If it was accidental, try to prove it, that u r innocent.

If not, write Apology, being First mistake.

Nothing more can be added
If you can successfully convince your higher-ups, and if you are indispensable , they will consider it for you.

If not, you will have to bear any punishment or look for another job..

It all depends on How you present your defence.
maithriforex (Querist) 30 March 2013
Mr. Shroff,

I should thank you for your guidance and advice. I will present my defence with necessary documentary evidence claiming innocence. But my difficulty would be the prejudice in the minds of few seniors.

Although I consider myself dispensable, will defend on the grounds that neither i have abetted nor committed breach of trust during my 15 long years of service.

I should thank you once again for timely and appropriate guidance.

THANKS
& WISH YOU BEST OF LUCK

Politely express yourself in low tone, That you served a long 15 years, and whatever mistake was not intentional, and beg pardon with assurance, not to repeat it.

Even God forgives first mistake.
It's human nature to err.
