Sirs,
I got arranged marriage 6 months ago. recently my father received some huge amount as retirement benefits. after that my inlaws demanding money from that amount. My father is planning to built a house for him and my only brother. If he give that money to my inlaws he can get a home. my inlaws sent me to my father's house threatening me that without money I can not enter my inlaws house. what to do now. where to give compaint. Please tell me the process.

This is criminal act. Try to make them understand and get back to your matrimonial home.
If however they stick to their illegal demand then you can file case for dowry harassment against them.

Off course it is criminal act of in laws, if you are ready then file a complaint before the police for dowry harrashment.

Agreed to the experts. But also think, if your husband too wants dowry, does he really needs you. Be away from such people.

Thanks alot for the reply.. Infact may parents made all efforts to negotiate the situation along with elders. My inlaws including husband not hering anything. some of my friends advised me to proceed with dowery harrasment case. But i don't know whether i should go to court or police station to initiate proceedings. Please clarify me...

You have 2 options in this regard.
You can opt both or any of them.
For initiating proceedings under 498a for dowry harassment against them, you need to lodge an FIR with POLICE;and
To initiate Domestic Violence case, petition
before judicial magistrate would be required .

TAKE RECOURSE TO LEGAL PROCEEDINGS. You are still young. Be away from such husband and settle again. File case for divorce and dowry harassment.

If negotiations have failed then instead of bowing to the illegal demands, file a criminal case against them and also file for maintenance.
