Name addition on property

Hi,
a property is registered in my name.i would like to add my fathers name in the property. please let me know the process. pl note that i want this to be done at a nominal fee only. please suggest me all the ways to do this and if possible,associated tentative cost for each option.

Possible through a gift deed, however tou need to bear the stamp duty and registration chgs which is nominal in case of gift to blood relatives. Stamp duty varies from state to state.

Option of stamp duty is ok but it requires stamp duty which generally is 1/2 of nominal stamp duty levied on sale deed.

Another option is court decree wherein a family settlement can be shwon and it requires minimum say token stamp duty but it takes time.

thank you for a prompt reply. i am fine if it takes time. the property location is gurgaon. can you advice the charges applicable for court decree?

Best option is to execute a Deed of Gift in favour of your father,for stamp duty and registration charges you may contact with Sub-Registrar office.

it is advisable to go in for gift deed . contact a local lawyer for said purpose
