(Querist) 19 March 2014 This query is : Resolved
hello sir, my grandfather(85 yrs old) gave a credit of 1.5lks to a person in 2007 on promisory note later he gave rs20000 in 2008 and rs4000 in 2011. till now he didnt gave anything. my grandfather is really felt bad and cheated. already gave notice but he didnt took that.
is there any rights for senior citizens?

In some states in india, there are senior citizen helplines/ websites for web based assistance etc.
if you have any promissory note which is not time barred/undated etc... then you can file legal suit for recovery.
alternatively any security or collaterals taken as security if any can also be acted upon for recovery.

soon the debt will be time barred after three years lapse from the date of last payment

Money is less. First part is already time barred.
Better lodge police complaint for cheating.

LET YOUR GRAND FATHER LODGE A COMPLAINT IN WRITING TO THE S.P. OF YOUR DISTRICT AGAINST THE BORROWER ENCLOSING XEROX COPIES OF HIS MONEY RECEIPTS AND PRAY FOR RECOVERY AS THE BORROWER IS CHEATING HIM BECAUSE HE IS AN OLD MAN AND PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE TO GO TO COURT FOR RECOVERY AND SOLICIT HIS KIND HELP.

Well advised by the expert Biswanath Roy, agree to it.

Well advised.

I think from the last date of payment, the time limit of three years has not passed as of now, hence issue a legal notice demanding the money and follow it by a suit for recovery of money.
