Power to terminate

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 11 December 2011 This query is : Resolved
Under Standing orders only Manager is authorised to issue letter of termination. Can the power be used by other officers without being notified as manager? Can manager delegate the power to other subordinate officers. In short can delegated power be further delegated without express provision to others?

Onky the Serivce Rule of your concern can determine that.
Genrally if the terminating authority is lower in rank than the appointing authority, he can not sign termination letter.

Termination by any lower authority than that prescribed in the Standing Orders is illegal. Bo delegation can work in such cases. Appointing authority and terminating authority can be different. However, you may have to check whether the the appointing authority and the terminating authority are the same as per the provisions made in the Standing Orders.
